About

Heritage Pentecostal Church

7520 25th Ave. E. Tacoma, WA 98404

our motto is simple:

“Heritage Pentecostal—Where Jesus Goes to Church.”

We’re passionate about creating an atmosphere where Spirit and Truth dwell together in every service, where hearts are transformed and lives are changed by the power of God.

At Heritage, we boldly believe, teach, and live out the Apostolic doctrine and the New Testament Pentecostal experience as taught by the apostles.

We believe in:

  • Repentance
  • Water baptism in Jesus’ name for the remission of sins
  • The infilling of the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues—just as the early church did in Acts 2:38.

a special note from

Pastor Rocky Dunlap

On behalf of the Heritage Pentecostal Church family, I welcome you warmly!  We are a community of believers striving to answer the need for a dynamic, Spirit-filled church in the Pierce County area, and we would love to get to know you better.

I first came to the South Puget Sound region during a three-year military assignment—and quickly developed a deep love for the area.

After moving away, I was invited back to Tacoma to serve in the ministry as the pastor of Heritage Pentecostal Church. Now, more than 20 years later, my passion for this community and its people has only grown stronger.

What we Believe at

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is God’s Holy, Infallible Word! (II Tim 3:16, II Peter 1:21).

The Godhead

We believe in one eternal God who was revealed as the “Father” in creation. He took on a fleshly body (manifested in flesh) as the “Son or Son of God” in order to die for our sins and indwells believers as the “Holy Ghost/Spirit.” (Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16)

Salvation

We believe that salvation was purchased by Jesus Christ.  The redemptive plan (the Death, Burial, and Resurrection) was made very clear through the teaching and preaching of Jesus, His disciples, and the early church. As Peter preached on the day of Pentecost, men were convicted and asked what they had to do to be saved. Peter boldly declared to the entire city in Acts 2:37-39 “Repent (death) and be Baptized (Burial) in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Resurrection)”.  The plan has not changed!

Christian Living

We believe that a new heart that comes with being born again leads one to love God and others and to live a life that reflects consecration to God in all areas of life.  We count it a privilege to dedicate our lives to God who has done so much for us and to separate ourselves from a world bent on destruction.  Our consecration begins in the heart and is a light to our world through our attitude, actions, and outward lifestyle.

Our Hope

We believe Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church (the Rapture). Scripture and end-time events warn us that the rapture is the next great event on God’s prophetic calendar. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (See I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15.)

Have Questions? We Have Answers.

You can expect a Spirit-filled atmosphere where we worship God in Spirit and in Truth. Services begin with pre-service prayer (one hour before service starts), followed by vibrant, biblical worship and powerful, anointed preaching. Every service is different because we follow the leading of the Holy Ghost and not a set schedule. But one thing’s for sure: you’ll feel the presence of God in each and every service.

Sunday services typically last around 1.5-2 hours, depending on how the Spirit leads. We don’t rush the move of God and don’t want to box Him in to a certain time frame. With that being said, plan for around 1.5-2 hours for every service (aside from our one hour Sunday School time at 10:30 AM).

Being Pentecostal means we believe in the same experience the early church received in Acts chapter 2. That includes the infilling of the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues, heartfelt worship, and a life fully surrendered to God. We believe the Holy Ghost still moves today just like He did in the Bible and you will feel Him in our services.

That’s okay! Many of us were right where you are now—curious, searching, and unsure. At Heritage Pentecostal, you don’t have to have it all figured out. We welcome your questions and encourage you to seek God at your own pace. God is a perfect gentleman and He’ll never force His way in, but He’s always ready to meet you right where you are.
